After you go outside, if you need a new curl or any correction, you need to make an appointment and there will be a service charge. African Americans from the rural areas of the Southern United States are also migrating to industrialized cities in the South, as well as north and west to war boom cities. Black Americans tended to travel to places in the northeast of cities where other black Americans had previously migrated. In 1900, only a fifth of African Americans living in the rural areas of the Southern United States lived in urban areas. This wave of migration often resulted in urban overcrowding due to housing exclusion policies to keep African American families out of the developing suburbs. Show Source Texts
For blacks, the Great Migration meant leaving their economic and social bases in America in search of new ones. The Great Migration went in a different direction as blacks traveled to the new South in search of economic opportunities. During the Second Wave (1940-60), Chicago's African-American population increased from 278,000 to 813,000. The influx of African Americans into Ohio, especially Cleveland, changed the demographics of the state and its people.
